Darlington Golf Course, Bergen County, New Jersey - Golf Course Enhancement Plan

Bergen County, New Jersey and The Northeast Golf Company have worked closely in the development of a broad range Golf Course Enhancement Plan for Darlington Golf Course in Mahwah, New Jersey. The Plan recommends major improvements to the main features on all of the golf holes, namely, tees, greens, drainage, cart paths, and bunkers.

The County and The Northeast Golf Company are now embarking on the creative execution of the proposed enhancements. Design work has been completed and the project is out for bid. Construction is scheduled to begin in December of 2005.

Darlington Golf Course Renovation Update - July 2006

In December of 2005, Downes Tree Service began the task of executing the extensive Tree Management Plan at Darlington. The Plan included selective tree removal, pruning and underbrushing along with general clearing for the new 11 th hole. This work was completed in March 2006. With the dramatic improvement of air circulation, the holes are now able to breathe.

Turco Golf Services then began the exciting process of developing all new tees, bunkering, cart paths, 7 new USGA greens, stone walls and the installation of a new state-of-the-art Toro irrigation system by National Irrigation.

Although the spring and summer of 2006 has seen a lot of rain, much has been accomplished. All of the greens have been completed and are growing in under the direction of Dave Werner, Golf Course Superintendent, and his staff. New holes 11 and 12 have been built and sodded. Two putting greens and a short game practice area are complete as well as new bunkers and tees on nine holes. Turco is doing a great job working under the watchful eye of Construction Manager Billy Buchanon.
